What is a Montréal 2027 Worldcon membership?

A Montréal 2027 Worldcon attending membership is what allows you to participate in Worldcon. There are two components: a WSFS Membership and an Attending Membership. Montréal 2027 Worldcon provides a total price for both for your convenience but they are separate things with separate privileges.

The WSFS Membership is your required membership in the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS), an unincorporated literary society. Your WSFS Membership comes with voting rights in the Hugo Awards and Site Selection for the location of Worldcon in 2029, and if purchased before January 31, 2027, nomination rights for the Hugo Awards. The other component is an Attending Membership, which confers the right to attend the convention in person AND allows you to access our Online/Remote/Virtual program offerings. Those will be closer to the convention an Online/Remote/Virtual membership as well that can be bought separately from an Attending membership for those that choose to participate without being present.

WSFS memberships without an Attending Membership are available but cannot be used to attend the convention without purchasing the Attending Membership. This membership structure is provided by the WSFS Constitution.

What currencies does Montréal 2027 Worldcon accept as payment?

Please note that all prices are in $CAD and all transactions are processed in Canadian dollars. Where a USD amount has been listed it is done so as a courtesy and will only be accurate to the day published.

How do I check my membership status?

You may already have a Montréal 2027 Worldcon membership if you purchased a site selection voting token from the Seattle Worldcon, or purchased a membership through our website. If you previously pre-supported the Montréal 2027 Worldcon bid at the Edge Case, Saw-Whet, or Ookpik level you can upgrade your membership to a full attending membership. If you previously pre-supported the Montréal 2027 Worldcon bid at the Ookpik level and voted you will have a full attending membership, but please use the portal to indicate your age and make any changes. You can check your membership status using our membership portal at reg.montreal2027.ca

How Do I Upgrade or Add-On to My Existing Membership?

You can use the membership portal to upgrade your membership. The upgrade cost is the difference between the cost of your current membership level and the cost of the new membership at their current rates.

When Will The Other Categories Of Membership Be Available To Purchase?

We are working to set rates for other categories, including our online offerings and single day memberships. We plan to update these soon . Please check back for more information.

I Would Like To Pay With Interac. Does The Convention Offer That?

Yes! We offer Interac. In order to properly track these payments we request that you email registration@montreal2027.ca, put “Interac” in the subject line and we’ll send you the routing information. Interac payments are processed in Canadian dollars.

How Do Refunds And Transfers Work?

Generally speaking, Montréal 2027 Worldcon does not offer refunds. Exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact registration@montreal2027.ca for further assistance.

You may transfer your attending membership to another person with a WSFS Membership. According to the WSFS Constitution, WSFS memberships are not transferable, so if the person does not already have a WSFS-Only membership, this membership must be purchased by or for the transferee. To transfer an attending membership, please email registration@Montreal2027.ca from the email address which is registered with the convention. The email should include:

If you are transferring a discounted membership and the transferee does not meet the same conditions related to the rate reduction, the transferee will be asked to pay the difference between the two rates.

Do Memberships For Children Have Conditions Different From Adult Ones?Yes. Canadian law stipulates that children (17 and under) may NOT buy their own memberships; they can only be bought for children. A parent or guardian must purchase any memberships for children. Additionally, children MUST be accompanied by an adult onsite at all times while in any convention space. Possession of a badge is insufficient; children cannot “free-range” at the Montréal 2027 Worldcon.

I have an access assistant that I need a badge for. How do I obtain one and what is the cost?

If your access assistant will not be a member of the convention but is there only to assist you, a badge will be created for that person to reflect this status. You will need to request this ahead of time by emailing registration@montreal2027.org or at the convention at Registration. There is no charge for this service. The access assistant badge will not allow any WSFS rights and is a courtesy we are pleased to offer. This also applies to childcare attendants such as nannies. Email if you have any questions.

I Lost My Badge. How Do I Replace it?

You can’t possibly have lost it yet. You need to have one to lose first! More information will be provided closer to the onsite convention date.
